SUMMER-IN-AFRICA

In promoting the Festival with funky, colourful, vibrant and people-centric visuals and publicity materials, as well as through the Centre’s website, Brand Communications helped to make the event a great success, raising awareness for the Africa Centre and highlighting the Festival’s different aspects of contemporary Africana.

The one-day free festival of activities in London’s iconic Covent Garden Piazza on the 1st of August was aimed at children and adults alike. It saw both international and rising stars take the stage for a day of music and events, with artists including renowned Nigerian singer songwriter Asa as the headline act and special guest Fuse ODG.

The 2015 theme also focused on digital art through photography, with an exhibition curated by renowned artists Hassan Hajaj and Yinka Shonibare MBE, along with a digital exhibition entitled The Story Within, with a series of curated still images which morphed into an animated display.

The day’s events included exhibitions, workshops for children and adults, dance shows, storytelling, entertainment, live music and authentic African food.
