Cenpower Generation Company Limited (‘Cenpower’) – Ghana’s 350MW independent power plant (IPP), currently being constructed at Kpone, near Tema appointed Brand Communications to manage its brand and PR activities.

Brand Communications supported Cenpower and its investors in preparing essential media tools and developed branding and communications materials including a corporate video, Q&A material, Fact Sheet, brochure, website, banners and press kits. We revamped Cenpower’s website and developed a new look and feel that is more in line with Cenpower KIPP’s positioning. We worked closely with the web developers to implement it.

We also managed the PR outreach and liaised closely with key media to secure interest in covering the announcement of the financial close of Cenpower and securing one-on-one interviews with targeted media outlets – including Euromoney, Bloomberg Wire, EMEA Finance, BBC, CNBC Africa, Bloomberg Africa TV, The Banker, IJ Global and Financial Times among others to profile Cenpower.

In January 2015, Cenpower Generation officially cut sod to mark commencement of construction work on the plant and we continued to manage Cenpower Generation’s public relations portfolio.

Cenpower and its financiers have since won four prestigious Awards, namely the Thomson Reuters Project Finance International (RFI) “African Power Deal of the Year 2014”, EMEA Finance magazine’s “Best Power Deal of the Year 2015”, the African Banker’s “Infrastructure Deal of the Year 2015″ and Africa Investor’s “Power Deal of the Year 2015”.

When the Cenpower plant will become fully operational in Q4 of 2017, it will add a critical 350MW of power, approximately 10% of Ghana’s total installed generation and about 20% of the country’s thermal generation capacity.

Brand Communications is proud to support infrastructure initiatives in Africa.
